MAKING SPIRITS BRIGHT!
Christmas. Hannukah. Kwanzaa. Solstice.
No matter what we celebrate in the dwindling days of the year, we do so together, in the light.
Sometimes there’s just one, glowing in the front window of home. Sometimes nine, dripping wax onto the family menorah. Sometimes hundreds, wrapped tightly around a fat green tree.
And sometimes thousands, illuminating and transforming the public spaces around us.
The Holiday Light Display in Willingtown Square will light the nights on Market for the next three months, starting this Saturday night.
Come to the square after the Wilmington Jaycees Christmas Parade on Saturday for the Market Street Pop-Up Holiday Village & Light Display, and you’ll find local vendors selling treasures destined to be stuffed into a stocking, local librarians kicking off the season with free books for kids 10 and under, and Hotsy Totsy Gals putting their spin on some classic holiday carols.
Catch a showing of “The Snowman” with the kids, and visit with Santa from noon-2pm.
Then spend some time on Market celebrating Small Business Saturday, with free kids entrees (with adult purchase) at Chelsea Tavern and Ernest & Scott Taproom, and deals and bargains up and down the street. (And if you don’t have the kids … well, Blitzen’s got you covered.)
Go out and explore all Market has to offer this Saturday, but as the shadows grow long, find your way back to Willingtown Square, in the dim and the dark, and join us as we celebrate the start of a joyful season Together. In the light.
